Today, the long-awaited technical standard for pickup trucks-"General Technical Conditions for Multi-purpose Trucks" came into effect!
This is the first technical standard for pickup trucks in China. Many card friends still have little knowledge of the standard content, and they don’t know whether their pickup trucks meet the requirements.Taking advantage of the first day of implementation, China pickup network once again gives you a key point!
First of all, if you want to make sure that your pickup symbol does not meet the requirements, focus on these four points:
1. It must be a double-row pickup truck, and a single row is not included;
2, the engine must be in the front, and cannot invade the cab too much;
3. The container is no longer than 1.85m, and it is not in the form of three sides;
4. There must be at least 4 container hooks, and there must be an ISOFIX child seat interface; ?
Of course, the content of the standard is far more than that, but some of them are the rules that pickup trucks have followed before, such as the total mass does not exceed 3.5 tons, and the cargo box cover can be equipped; There are some non-compliant models, such as approach angle not less than 25, departure angle not less than 20, and minimum ground clearance not less than 180 mm. Therefore, if card friends want to judge whether their pickup trucks meet the new standards, they can have a preliminary judgment by focusing on these four points.

At the beginning of the standard, the scope of application is defined, which is a multi-purpose truck with double rows of seats. This scope is quite lethal, and many single-row pickups are excluded. This is because there are not many single-row pickups on the market at present, and many single-row pickups are used for pulling goods, so there is no separate regulation on them in the rules. Of course, it is inevitable that a number of single-row pickups for fun will be accidentally injured. Perhaps the future standards will optimize this.
Subsequently, the standard clarified the definition of multi-purpose truck, which roughly means that pickup trucks have three parts: the front, the cockpit and the cargo box, and the total weight cannot exceed 3.5 tons, which is consistent with the rules that pickup trucks have always followed. However, the definition also requires the proportion of the car body, which restricts the pickup truck from being made into the shape of a micro-surface magic change, or the shape of a long container, so that the pickup truck is clearly distinguished from the micro-truck.
The standard also requires the dimensions of pickup trucks, among which the most concerned is that "the internal length of the container is not more than 35% of the length of the whole vehicle and not more than 1850 mm", which excludes many kinds of super-long container products on the market, and puts forward that pickup trucks can only open the rear door, not the three sides, which means that many models that mainly open on three sides will not be among the pickup trucks, such as Wuling Journey, which has attracted much attention in recent years.
In addition, the standard also requires that the height of the cab should be no more than 2100 mm, the height of the upper end of the container rail should be no more than 1500 mm, the distance between seats should be no less than 650 mm, and the depth of the cushion should be no less than 400 mm. At the same time, the container should be equipped with at least 4 fastening points and symmetrically distributed, and it can be equipped with a container cover, but it must be of a hard structure, and it should have an opening structure or a lid lock system for cargo handling.
Because pickup trucks have strong off-road properties, the standards also have mandatory requirements for pickup trucks’ passability and stability. For example, the vehicle should meet at least two requirements of "approach angle not less than 25, departure angle not less than 20, minimum ground clearance not less than 180 mm" when it is in the state of vehicle kerb quality, and the maximum climbing degree is not less than 25%, and the maximum lateral stability angle of the vehicle to the left and right is not less than 35 when it is in the state of vehicle kerb quality and at rest.
It is worth mentioning that the requirements of the standard for child restraint systems and fixing points are also mandatory, and it is proposed that "multi-purpose trucks should have at least one rear seat equipped with ISOFIX child restraint system fixing device that meets the requirements of GB 14167". However, this function is missing in most pickup trucks at present, and even some pickup trucks with high positioning are included.
In recent years, with the upgrade of pickup truck ride, towing RV and trailer has become a new trend for pickup truck players, especially with the launch of C6 driver’s license last month, the popularity of pickup truck towing has soared, and in the standard, the relevant requirements and regulations for pickup truck towing have also been made very detailed.
Among them, the most concerned is that "the circuit capacity from the multi-purpose truck to the output end of the trailer should be not less than 20A, and it should be equipped with a 12V13-core electrical connector conforming to GB/T 20718", which means that if the vehicle has the qualification of towing, it must have a power interface to which the trailer can be connected, and there are mandatory requirements for the circuit capacity and connector of the interface, which should be paid attention to by the vehicle enterprise when it leaves the factory.
In addition, there are requirements on towing device and running performance, such as: "The maximum climbing degree of the train should not be less than 12%", "For all-wheel and rear-wheel drive multi-purpose trucks, the ratio of the maximum designed total mass of the central axle trailer to the curb mass of the multi-purpose truck should not be greater than 1.5".
Undoubtedly, the implementation of technical standards for pickup trucks is of great significance to the domestic pickup market. Recently, the General Office of the State Council issued a document stating that "fine management should be implemented for pickup trucks entering the city, and the restrictions on pickup trucks entering the city should be further relaxed." Combined with the technical standards of pickup trucks that will come into effect soon, the possibility of pickup trucks independently existing as "multi-purpose trucks" in management will be further increased in the future.
