The new journey of space flight is 183 days! Pursuing the Flying Footprint of Shenzhou 14 Crew

At 20: 09 on December 4, 2022, the return capsule of Shenzhou 14 manned spacecraft landed successfully in Dongfeng landing field, and the mission was a complete success. From the hot summer to the cold winter, the Shenzhou 14 astronauts successfully completed all the established tasks by team, creating a number of "firsts". Let’s trace the flying footprint of Shenzhou XIV and review the half-year space journey of the "busiest crew".

Set out to fly, with firm steps

At 7: 54 on June 5, 2022, the astronauts of Shenzhou 14 manned mission went out in groups at Wentiange Square in Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, and astronauts Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe were ordered to go out.

At 10: 44, the Shenzhou 14 manned spacecraft was successfully launched, and three astronauts were successfully sent into space.

Successfully docked and settled in the "Tiangong"

At 17: 42 on June 5, the Shenzhou 14 manned spacecraft successfully docked at the radial port of Tianhe core cabin, and the whole docking process lasted about 7 hours.

At 20: 50, the Shenzhou 14 crew successfully entered the Tianhe core cabin and became a new group of owners of the "Space House".

Establish a manned environment and organize the "Space House"

In order to carry out work and normal life as soon as possible, the crew quickly put into the on-orbit resident environment setting, carried out microbial sampling, installation, debugging and maintenance of various equipment, and successively entered the Tianzhou-4 and Tianzhou-3 cargo ships to sort out and transfer materials, creating a comfortable and livable space home.

"Ask for Heaven" and greet "New House"

On July 24, the space station’s experimental capsule was successfully launched, and Shenzhou 14 watched the whole launch in orbit.

On July 25th, Chen Dong, commander, opened the hatch of the space shuttle, and successfully entered the space shuttle by crew. This was the first time that an astronaut from China entered the scientific space shuttle in orbit.

Third time out of the cabin, a new record

This mission has created a new record of three exits from a flight mission. On September 2, Shenzhou 14 crew completed the first outbound activity from the airlock cabin of the Inundation Experimental Module assisted by a small robotic arm, and verified the main path of autonomous transfer outside the Inundation Experimental Module for the first time.

On September 17, the crew left the cabin again after a lapse of half a month, and completed the tasks such as the installation of extravehicular facilities and equipment and the verification of extravehicular rescue. Together with the crew, the vast universe of Xinghe witnessed the rapid development of the China Space Station.

On November 17th, the crew successfully completed the third extravehicular activity. During the extravehicular activity, the astronauts built an "overpass" that walked outside the cabin between three cabins, and tested the ability to work with the combined manipulator for the first time. This was the first extravehicular activity after the basic configuration of the space station "T" was assembled.

Teaching in space, asking for the truth

On October 12th, the third lesson of "Tiangong Classroom" was held in the "New Classroom" for the first time. Three new "space teachers" introduced a series of interesting phenomena and principles of scientific experiments in the working and living scenes and microgravity environment in the experimental cabin, presenting another wonderful space science class for the majority of teenagers.

The practice (test) is not stopped, and the training is not stopped.

During the mission, Shenzhou 14 crew carried out a lot of inspection and testing of the space station platform, equipment maintenance, maintenance verification, material management and station management, unlocked and installed multiple experimental cabinets in two experimental cabins, and carried out a number of space science experiments and technical experiments as planned.

In addition to daily physical exercise, we also regularly carry out various professional and technical trainings such as manipulator operation, extravehicular activity operation, rendezvous and docking operation, emergency rescue and medical skills. The "busiest group" is well deserved.

"T" in the third cabin bears witness to history.

After the successful launch and successful transposition of Mengtian Experimental Module, on November 3, Shenzhou 14 crew successfully entered Mengtian Experimental Module, opening the "three-bedroom" era in Chinese space.

During the mission, the crew cooperated with the ground to complete the assembly and construction of the "T" basic configuration of the space station, and experienced 9 assembly configurations, 5 rendezvous and docking, 2 separation and evacuation and 2 transposition missions, which witnessed many historical moments of China’s manned space flight.

Space victory "joining forces", staged "six-party"

In the past six months, the Shenzhou 14 crew has not only witnessed history, but also made history. Chen Dong became the first astronaut in China to stay in orbit for more than 200 days.

On November 30th, the long-awaited Shenzhou XIV astronauts successfully opened the "home" by group, warmly welcoming relatives from afar to settle in the "Tiangong". The two astronauts of the "Victory Meeting" took a group and left a space photo in Chinese’s own "Space Home" that could go down in history.

Do one’s duty and return with honor.

After the handover with the Shenzhou-15 crew, on December 4th, the return capsule of the Shenzhou-14 crew landed successfully, and the three astronauts returned safely with full glory in the long-awaited event. The mission is over, but new tasks and challenges have just begun.

Congratulations on the successful completion of the mission by Shenzhou 14 crew.

China Space Station is always worth looking forward to!
