It is not difficult to see from the Turing test proposed by Turing that artificial intelligence is a functional simulation of intelligence. All kinds of companion robots, whether intangible intelligent software or intelligent speakers, or humanoid robots that may appear in the future, are agents or actors who can interact with people functionally. The word "agent" seems abstract, but when you grab a high-speed rail ticket with an application on your mobile phone, or go in and out of the airport and high-speed railway station through face recognition equipment, it is not difficult to find that your life is increasingly connected with the world through these intelligent machines, which are called agents. In the next step, intelligent machines will play the role of servers, caregivers, chaperones and even partners in your life.

In this vision of a pan-agent society, the first ethical question is, can humans and machines establish a real relationship? In other words, if people regard this relationship as a real relationship, will it cause some harm that cannot be ignored.

Recently, in the discussion on this issue, the distinction between "I-you" and "I-it" by contemporary philosopher martin buber has become an important starting point for thinking. Roughly speaking, whether the relationship between man and companion robot should be based on mutual equality and respect like the "I-you" relationship, or whether we can just regard companion robot as the tool I use like the "I-it" relationship. Starting from this dichotomy, people who are not optimistic about the relationship between people and companion robots can easily demonstrate that it is difficult for people and machines to form a real interactive relationship based on the "I-you" relationship, that is to say, they cannot really interact, communicate intimately and even love each other like people.

Undoubtedly, because opponents obviously can’t stop the appearance of companion robots, instead of obsessing about the authenticity of the interaction between people and machines, it is better to discuss how to face practical challenges such as children’s companion robots and elderly companion robots. For example, if children rely too much on companion robots, they may be "bad" by robots, will they be deprived or weakened of the opportunity to get care and care from parent-child interaction, or even lose the ability to establish intimate and social relations like wolf children. Similarly, some people question that the companion robot for the elderly can not fundamentally solve the needs of the elderly for interpersonal feelings, and even strengthen their loneliness when they know that the other person is a robot.

Can you break the robot doll at will?

To be fair, the interaction between human and companion robot is neither true nor false. This answer seems a bit tricky, but at this stage, this kind of ambiguity helps to think more openly and pertinently. For example, when you are in a bad mood, can you fight your robot doll? Is this a new type of domestic violence that may appear in the future? The answer to this question seems to go back to the distinction between "I-you" and "I-it". In other words, should the companion robot be regarded as the object of moral consideration or care like people themselves? Will people regard robots as "people"? From the perspective of perception, for intangible chat robots such as Xiao Bing and Xiao Du, people need to use their imagination to supplement their "personality", while the "identity" of humanoid robots is relatively easy to grasp. With the help of the theory of Levinas, a contemporary French philosopher, it is pointed out that robots should be given a face that can be recognized and distinguished, so that people can more easily regard robots as the "other" that should be treated morally. This requires that all kinds of companion robots in the future have their own faces and unique eyes.

But so far, one of the troubles that this kind of philosophical thinking will encounter is that the robot is unconscious, or even doesn’t really know that it is a robot. Its expressions and emotions are just the result of emotional calculation-the robot captures people’s expressions and emotions according to the intelligent recognition program designed by people, while making appropriate expressions and emotional reactions. Before the robot has no self-awareness, no matter how you treat it, the joy or sadness it presents is designed for people to see, and the robot itself has no inner heart that can truly feel the joys and sorrows. Therefore, whether you can beat the robot doll at will is not directly related to the ethical relationship between people and robots in the interactive sense, but mainly depends on whether people accept this behavior morally. On the one hand, to what extent do people think it is acceptable or unnecessary to pay attention to deliberately "abusing" robots; On the other hand, to what extent, people will think that the intentional "abuse" or more "violent" behavior of robots is morally unacceptable, and even what reasonable moral restrictions should be imposed on them.

It must be pointed out that the factual basis on which these moral restrictions need to be based is still unclear. Just like whether violent behavior in video games helps to vent bad emotions or strengthens violent tendencies, it is difficult to draw a clear conclusion whether "violence" against robots should be restricted. Generally speaking, the governance and supervision of companion robots in various countries is based on the principle of not restricting their development. The research interest of technology giants in the negative consequences of companion robots is often based on the premise of not affecting their application and promotion, and it is difficult for most users to rationally reflect on the physical and mental harm that "violence" may bring to robots. In short, this issue is still in the stage of conceptual discussion. From the point of view of avoiding technology abuse, we should carry out necessary research in sociology and anthropology of technology, find out the details of possible problems in specific scenarios, explore feasible ethical norms, and make them penetrate into the whole life cycle of related products, such as design, application and use.

Is the cute robot really what you want?

Robots usually imitate people’s words and deeds in the form of machines, and make them meet people’s needs more and more through continuous improvement. This brings two levels of problems. On the one hand, people will be influenced by the behavior of machines in the process of interacting with machines; On the other hand, in order to make machines cater to people, robot designers often make robots more attractive emotionally on the basis of insight into people’s psychology.

The influence of the first aspect is often invisible, but it does exist, and sometimes it even affects people’s "hardware". Many years ago, Shirley Turk, a scientific sociologist, encountered a mental illness in which some people thought they were machines. Philosophers like to call this phenomenon the colonization of the life world by technology. Taking GPS navigation as an example, the avant-garde Paris taxi drivers are used to using the navigator, while the relatively conservative London taxi drivers mainly use memory to navigate. A three-year comparative study shows that the cortex responsible for mapping time and space in the brains of Paris taxi drivers has shrunk, and some people not only can’t determine the correct driving route in real time and space, but even suffer from some kind of dyslexia. Fortunately, these symptoms are not irreversible.

On the other hand, the impact may be more significant, and some people even worry that the destruction of this "software" level will lead to the collapse of human society. Although this dystopian prospect may not come true, at least two aspects are worthy of attention. First, the companion robot may be designed to be more and more clever, and even learn to tell some white lies to people slowly. This may make people feel that robot companions are more intimate and easy to communicate, and the resulting illusion of congeniality will make people more willing to get along with robot companions. Some people may even become addicted to robots, and regard real interpersonal communication and intimacy as a fearful road. Moreover, once the robot’s ability to lie is developed, it is inevitable to accompany the robot to cover up human misconduct or illegal behavior. Of course, some philosophers may wonder whether it is possible to make a less obedient debating robot so that they can discuss philosophy with the robot, but if it is made, it is hard to say that users of philosophers with insufficient cultivation will not be annoyed because they are not as smart as robots.

Secondly, the design of robot companion is based on the acceptance of human emotions, which is likely to make the interaction between human and robot companion more attractive and satisfy their imagination of desires. In addition, the combination with games and virtual reality is hard to say that they will not indulge in it and will eventually destroy the foundation of human reproduction and civilization development linked by emotional relations. Whether this worry is groundless or not undoubtedly returns to the question of the authenticity of the interactive relationship between people and robots and even the intimate relationship. For example, will the intimate relationship between people and robots weaken the ability to form intimate relationships between people? Will this behavior change lead to the degeneration and change of the "brain circuit" of people related to it? And once we realize the virtuality of this intimate relationship, will people’s attitude towards emotions go to complete nothingness?

Although some critics believe that the love relationship with sex robots is just an extension of traditional sex trade or sexual violence on the machine, it is a manifestation of male chauvinism and misogyny. However, its advocates point out that, on the one hand, robot technology can at least copy the love activity and its psychological attraction process functionally; On the other hand, human beings have a psychological tendency to personify animals, objects and machines emotionally. In their view, it is a new evolution of human beings to establish attachment or love relationship with entities other than their own species, and the combination of robots’ catering to human emotions and people’s anthropomorphic psychological tendency to machines will make the love between people and their partners become a new way of love.

Although the related technology has not really been realized, we can still make necessary reflection on its possibility. Perhaps the future of companion or companion robot has infinite possibilities, and it is hard to predict whether it is a blessing or a curse. But in terms of intention, we should try to limit those designs with ulterior motives from the beginning. Therefore, at least from the perspective of ethical design, companion robots that deliberately lie should not be made, and at the same time, companion robots that fool and manipulate people’s emotions should be put an end to.

As far as everyone is concerned, under certain circumstances, companion robots can be used as an auxiliary tool for learning and practicing intimate relationships, and can also be used as a temporary comfort method when emotional injuries occur; But in this process, you should take a tentative and reflective attitude, especially be alert to the self-abandonment and addiction caused by it. Technology is neither Niu Mowang nor Bai Gujing. Facing the hole dug for you by the monkey Sun, you need more entertainment spirit and game attitude. You may even use self-mockery and humor to make the robot companion an opportunity for you to understand your emotions and give up your troubles. For example, you can learn the design principle of the robot’s blurred eyes with the robot while chanting "and a moment that ought to have lasted for ever". In the era of advanced technology, technology permeates the surroundings like air. In order not to get lost by it, everyone should learn to get along with technology alone, and this new self-regulation or self-ethics is actually the Zen machine that every human individual needs to understand and practice most.

Of course, this topic also involves many interesting issues. For example, if people and machines really love each other, do we have to let robots learn to dream about electronic sheep? Will the gender and role distribution of robots bring social gender problems to robots? Also, before the machine awakens itself, will the robot itself form its own group and society with its own identity, and thus realize the differences between robots and people? In other words, in the future world, people and machines will merge and coexist, and become indistinguishable life beings …

In the women’s 400-meter final of the national track and field competition last month, Liao Mengxue and Tong Zenghuan, two female players who swept the gold and silver medals, caused a heated discussion inside and outside the international sports circle-these two female players really look like male players.

In addition to appearance, Liao Mengxue’s voice is slightly low and neutral. So the public opinion is full of doubts. Are China female track and field athletes men? South Korean media even shouted "China sports has no gender", expressing strong opposition.

In fact, the Chinese Athletics Association has come forward to confirm that the two athletes are indeed women. Just in May this year, they also participated in the international track and field league. How could they pass the test of such a major event by dressing up as women? Questioning is self-defeating.

In fact, to ensure fair and just international sports events, gender identification has been improved with the application of biomedicine and other technologies, and the method is not as simple as taking off pants to check physical characteristics. How to identify people with abnormal sex? Which gender should transgender people enter the competition? Everything is scientific, rigorous, fair and elegant.

However, some unscrupulous media make hasty judgments only on the appearance of TV screens, which not only hurts the dignity of athletes themselves, but also determines the scientific reforms and efforts made by international sports organizations for gender identification in the past century.

When it comes to gender identification, the first way that comes to mind should be to observe the gender characteristics of the body, and the same is true of gender identification in the earliest sports events. The athletes are arranged naked in groups, so that the appraiser can observe their physical characteristics with the naked eye.

As early as the 1936 Olympic Games, there appeared the same gender questioning as Liao Mengxue and Tong Zenghuan. In the women’s 100-meter track and field competition, American Helen Stephens won the championship. The second place in this competition, Stella Walsh from Poland, was defeated by her, and she questioned Helen’s true gender. Stella asked the IAFF to verify Helen’s gender.

This is the first time that athletes have been tested for gender in international sports events. The Olympic Committee identified Helen by visual inspection, that is, let her undress and check her gender characteristics. It turns out that Helen is indeed a woman, and Stella’s doubts are not valid.

Surprisingly, however, the whistleblower Stella herself is "gender ambiguous". At that time, the Olympic Committee only made a gender test for Helen, and obviously would not pay attention to Stella who seemed to be on the right side. It was not until Stella’s death 44 years later that the complete truth surfaced.

Stella was unfortunately robbed and shot by robbers, but her autopsy was shocking. It turns out that Stella has a tiny but nonfunctional male organ; However, the sex chromosome types displayed by her cells are also problematic, some of them carry XY chromosomes, and some of them have only one X chromosome, which indicates that the embryonic cells divide incorrectly and lead to mosaic. Instead of appearing in the women’s arena, it should be Stella.

In the same year’s Olympic Games, another German high jumper, Dora Rajan, also had gender doubts. At that time, she finished fourth in the women’s high jump. Two years later, she set a new record for the women’s high jump in another competition, but a few days later, she was accidentally exposed to gender issues. On the train back to Germany, someone reported that she was a man dressed as a woman.

When the police intervened in the investigation, it was discovered that Dora was mistaken for a girl by the midwife when she was born, and her family raised Dora as a girl since childhood. The reason lies in the strange physical characteristics of Dora’s hermaphroditism, and the sexual organs in this case can’t play their sexual functions. So in fact, Dora is not a woman or a man. She is bisexual.

In Dora’s mind, she belongs to women. So she can only hide her physical characteristics, avoid being naked, and participate in the competition as a woman. Until the embarrassing gender identity was revealed, all the medals she won were confiscated and her name was deleted from the record.

A series of gender disputes made the sports community aware of the controversy, so in 1966, IAAF added gender identification steps, and two years later, the International Olympic Committee followed suit. The athletes lined up naked in front of the doctor, who roughly identified the sex by naked eye.

Although the method is intuitive and simple, it also arouses people’s psychological antipathy and is criticized as uncivilized and immoral. When complex situations arise, it is difficult to make a judgment in gender identification.

The essential difference between men and women lies in the different sex chromosomes. Male’s XY and female’s XX chromosomes determine the different sexual characteristics of human beings. So in 1967, IAAF introduced chromosome test to identify sex, and a year later, the International Olympic Committee adopted the same method.

Chromosome test is simple, just take some tissue smears from athletes’ mouths, and then check whether there is Pasteurella bodies in them with a microscope. Pasteurella bodies are mammalian somatic nuclei. Except for one X chromosome, the other X chromosomes are condensed to form chromatids with a diameter of about 1 micron. This is actually the phenomenon that most chromatin is not synchronized during the cell division cycle.

There is only one X chromosome in male, so there is no Pasteurella in male nucleus. Women have two X chromosomes, so there is a Pasteurella corpuscle. After staining the chromosomes, Pasteurella bodies will show a deeper color, and the observation will be obvious.

However, in the year when chromosome testing was introduced, a Polish female athlete could not pass gender identification. Her chromosome results showed "no Pasteurella", which means that "she" was judged to be male.

In fact, she is indeed a woman, only suffering from a rare Turner syndrome. This is a chromosomal abnormality disease, and the X chromosome is partially or completely missing, resulting in a chromosome composition of 44+X instead of 44+XX of ordinary people. Therefore, under the microscope, there will naturally be no Pasteurella bodies. Finally, following the appraisal results, the female athlete was banned from participating in the Olympic Games and professional sports competitions for life.

People gradually found that there are more and more blind spots in chromosome detection. Except for women with Turner’s syndrome, there is no abnormal situation of Pasteurella, but the male sex chromosome with Creutzfeldt-Jakob syndrome is XXY, but a Pasteurella can be detected. Athletes with androgen insensitivity contain XY sex chromosomes, but they can’t secrete androgen normally, and they are also rejected from the competition.

In 1992, the International Olympic Committee introduced PCR (polymerase chain reaction) detection method, which is more microscopic than chromosome detection at the gene level.

There is a sex-determining regional gene, SRY gene, on the Y chromosome. Although this gene is usually located on the Y chromosome, it will be transferred to the X chromosome in rare cases. In this way, even a fetus with a sex chromosome of XX will develop into a male; Similarly, if the SRY gene on the Y chromosome fails, the fetus with XY sex chromosome will also develop into a woman. This bypasses the chromosome abnormality and directly judges its subsequent expression according to the gene situation.

A large number of copies can be amplified within one hour by taking a small amount of DNA from the tested person. At this time, sex identification is completed only by detecting whether there is SRY gene on the sex chromosome. Because of its low price, simple and reliable steps, PCR identification method later became the mainstream identification method.

Electrophoretic PCR products showed that the band size of SRY gene was 254bp.

Almost all gender identification is aimed at male players mixed with female players, and they are screened out, because there is no woman who wants to challenge male opponents and stage the drama of eggs hitting stones. However, it is unfair for men to participate in women’s competitions, mainly because of the huge difference in testosterone content between normal men and women.

Testosterone is the main male hormone, and 90% of testosterone in men is secreted by leydig cells, which promotes the development of secondary characteristics such as the maturity of male sexual organs.

The essence of testosterone is actually to promote the synthesis of protein, so testosterone can also promote the growth of muscles and strength and enhance the maturity of bones, which is a great advantage for athletes.

In fact, women can also secrete testosterone. Although there are no testicles, ovarian interstitial cells and adrenal glands can also secrete a small amount, which is only about 1/10 of that of men.

To some extent, in the arena, androgen has become the "strength value" of athletes, and the value range of men is obviously higher than that of women. Therefore, people strongly resist men’s participation in women’s competitions.

And hormone detection has also become an auxiliary method in gender identification. In fact, it is more important as an identification means to test whether athletes take hormone drugs.

Testosterone is also the goal that men strive for in the gym, which has the function of building muscles.

So far, almost every appraisal method in sports field has defects. Only by integrating various identification methods can the rate of misjudgment be reduced.

In the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008, the "Sex Identification Experimental Center" was established, which combined clinical, sex hormone, gene and chromosome detection methods for sex identification. A comprehensive gender identification method provides a fairer basis for the current international competition.

In fact, it is impossible for male players disguised as women to mix into women’s competitions under strict appraisal methods, and it is the gender abnormal groups except men and women who are really in an embarrassing position. From the point of view of sports competition, they should also have the right to participate in the competition. After identifying the gender, how to place these athletes has become a difficult problem.

In the process of constantly changing gender identification methods, it is just the abnormal gender who is the most difficult to accurately determine the gender. Their gender is vague, and some people clearly believe that they are women, but they can’t participate in women’s competitions.

In 2003, the International Olympic Committee formulated a consensus on gender classification in Stockholm, which opened a door to this group.

The consensus stipulates that bisexual or transgender people are allowed to participate in Olympic events. The condition is that sex hormone therapy and transsexual surgery are needed two years before the competition. That is to say, before the game, you can make it clear that you are a man or a woman through surgery, so you can pass gender identification and participate in the competition.

In 2016, the International Olympic Committee once again reached a consensus that transgender athletes who are not qualified for women’s competitions do not have to undergo sex-change surgery, and they can choose to participate in men’s competitions. After the reform, the consensus is more humanized, which no longer opposes gender as a gender situation with only men and women, and is more tolerant of transgender people.

As long as there is competitive sports, there is people’s yearning for fairness, which has led to the change of gender identification for nearly a century. At the same time, science and technology are constantly developing, which provides a fairer appraisal measure for sports events.

From this point of view, the question about Chinese female athletes at the beginning of the article is even more out of thin air. Instead of spending energy to incite doubts, we should try to add fair scientific and technological guarantee to exciting sports events.

Under the increasingly refined identification means, the problems in identification are no longer plagued by both male and female dimensions. The criterion of gender determination in sports field is fair competition, but if masculine face, gender characteristics, chromosomes and hormones can’t determine gender, what is the criterion of gender?

　　After the "salary-drying" incident of CICC traders’ families, a recent "salary-limiting order" in the financial industry has aroused widespread concern.

　　On August 2, the Ministry of Finance issued the Notice of the Ministry of Finance on Further Strengthening the Financial Management of State-owned Financial Enterprises (hereinafter referred to as the Notice), which is divided into five parts with 14 articles, of which two focus on standardizing the salary of employees in financial enterprises.

　　The Notice proposes to optimize the internal income distribution structure, increase the total salary to grass-roots employees, establish and improve the mechanism of deferred payment and accountability for salary distribution, and require that the basic salary of financial executives and employees in important positions should generally not be higher than 35% of the total salary, and more than 40% of the performance salary should be deferred, and the deferred payment period should generally be no less than 3 years.

　　The financial industry has always been called "multi-gold industry". In the annual national average wage ranking, the financial industry’s salary has never fallen out of the top three.

　　Just at the end of July, the family of a trader in CICC disclosed her husband’s income certificate. The employee’s average monthly income of 82,500 yuan aroused widespread concern in society. In fact, the employee’s income was less than the average level. In 2021, the per capita salary of CICC reached 980,000 yuan, and even reached 1.16 million yuan in 2020.

　　Re-issue a "salary limit order"

　　The Notice requires that all central financial enterprises and financial enterprises in other countries should actively optimize the internal income distribution structure, give full play to the positive incentive role of wages and salaries, effectively implement the policy requirement that the average wage increase of headquarters employees should be lower than that of employees in their own enterprises in principle, and the average wage increase of middle and senior management positions should not be higher than that of employees in their own enterprises in principle.

　　Financial enterprises should reasonably control the post distribution grade difference, fully mobilize the enthusiasm of front-line employees and grass-roots employees, and effectively balance the income distribution relationship among leading bodies, middle-level cadres and grass-roots employees. If the average salary of headquarters employees is significantly higher than that of employees in the enterprise, the total annual salary should be further increased to front-line employees and grass-roots employees.

　　In addition, financial enterprises should seriously allocate discipline, strictly clean up and standardize the extra-wage income, incorporate all wage income into the total wage management, and not charge any wage expenses such as allowances and subsidies in other forms besides the total wage, so as to realize the wage of income, the monetization of wages and the transparency of payment.

　　In the "establishing and improving the mechanism of deferred payment of salary distribution and compensation", the Notice requires that financial enterprises should comprehensively consider market conditions, performance, risk taking, salary strategy and other factors, scientifically set salary standards for different positions, and reasonably determine a certain proportion of performance pay.

　　For senior managers of financial enterprises and employees who have a direct or important impact on risks, the basic salary is generally not higher than 35% of the total salary, and performance pay is deferred according to the business income and risk assessment by stages. More than 40% of performance pay should be deferred, and the deferred payment period is generally not less than 3 years, so as to ensure that the payment period of performance pay matches the risk duration of the corresponding business, unless otherwise stipulated by the state.

　　Financial enterprises should formulate a system of recourse and deduction of performance pay. If senior managers and employees in positions that have a direct or important impact on risks fail to perform their duties diligently, resulting in major violations of laws and regulations or major risk losses to financial enterprises, financial enterprises should recover part or all of the performance pay paid within the corresponding period and stop paying part or all of the unpaid pay according to laws and regulations and after performing corporate governance procedures. In principle, the recovery period of performance pay is the same as that of the relevant responsible person. The performance-based compensation recourse and deduction regulations apply to those who have left or retired.

　　In addition to limiting the salary income of senior executives, increasing the total salary to grass-roots employees, delaying payment and establishing a system of recourse and deduction of performance pay, the Notice also puts forward specific requirements for financial enterprises to strengthen financial budget management and reasonably control expenses. For example, financial enterprises are strictly forbidden to talk about ostentation and extravagance, put an end to extravagance and waste, and strictly prohibit the purchase and provision of high-end drinks when holding business banquets; It is strictly forbidden to purchase and build office buildings in violation of regulations, luxury decoration office buildings and high-grade office furniture; Financial enterprises should implement centralized procurement according to the procurement plan and incorporate it into the annual budget management; Strict implementation of the relevant provisions of the state on the personal treatment of employees, entertainment, fitness, tourism, entertainment, shopping, gifts and other expenses borne by individuals shall not be charged in the cost of enterprises.

　　Due to the generally high salary level in the financial industry, the "salary limit order" seems to have never stopped.
